Please jump in anyone to help me with a chick who has pipped a hole but nothing since 12 hours. The chick chirps incessantly and seems frustrated. This chick was a shipped egg. The air cell was misplaced but still towards the blunt end of the egg. This is my last egg to hatch. I do not know what to do. This is my 4th hatch and do not want to intervene and realize the importance of waiting but my instinct is telling me something is not right like maybe the position of the body is wrong due to the jumbled air cell? I have attached a picture.
Please help anyone as to what I should do.

Hi, I don’t have any experience hatching, but I found this article from another BYC member in assisted hatching.

Apparently if the chick has pipped but not zipped yet, it’s safe to leave alone for up to 24 hours, assuming all else is normal. Sorry I can’t be of much more help! I hope everything goes ok for you. Good luck!:fl
Thank you so much, yes I did read Sally Sunshine. The reason I am concerned is the chick is chirping incessantly like it is frustrated. The membrane now is starting to look a bit on the dry side.

It’s so hard to know what and when. The problem is that if you rupture a blood line the chick will bleed to death. I agree maybe to wait a while longer. Best of luck.

SHE MADE IT!!!!!!! I spoke with the breeder and she said to help. I zipped half way around counterclockwise by chipping small small bits. I waited two hours to see if she would do anything. Her beak was visible. She was growing weaker. At two hours I went back in and chipped the top off. (no blood lines visible). I gently pulled back the membrane and she pushed really hard and out she came! I hope to NEVER have this happen again since it is very precision work. Thank you everyone for your help!
