We have a 5 week old Lavender Orpington who is smaller than the other two Lavenders (always has been) but she just started to where her vent is poked out, constantly moving, red, & my husband just seen her trying to poop, pecking at it & not coming out right away. Anyone know what’s going on? Should we put her by herself? I’ve read about giving olive oil?

Coconut oil. Divide a teaspoon of it into pea size pieces , chill until hard, then feed it into the chick's beak. the chick is constipated and straining to poop is causing the vent to prolapse. You can smooth on cortisone cream to help reduce swelling and pain. The oil should work anywhere from an hour to overnight.

If this chick is undersized, it may be failure to thrive and has genetic defects that is causing an inefficient digestive system. This could keep happening.
