I have a hen with 2, two week old chicks. They have been with the majority of the flock since they hatched, occasionally the chicks will be pecked at but just a few minutes ago a gent latched on to one chicks neck and pulled a pinky nail sucked piece of skin off.. I am seperatinh the hen and chicks. What do I do to treat it?

I would probably put some BluKote and neosporin on it, and put it back under the broody.

Has anyone used silver sulfadiazine cream? My father has some from a severe burn. We didn't have any neosporin so I have applied the silver cream twice today. The chick and its family have range of our basement for now. The patch of missing skin seems pretty big, taking up a good portion of the back of the chicks neck but the chick is acting fine. My father had let them outside before he knw about the injury and the chick stayed off to the side by itself but it is sticking close to momma now that it is away from the flock.

Does the chick have a chance at a full recovery?

Silvadene is a good choice for covering the wound and helping it heal. Chicks heal pretty fast from injuries. I had one pecked by another adult chicken, and she healed within a week.
