Could you please inform us of what concerns you about the messy butt?

I would begin by washing it well with soap and warm water so we can see exactly what it looks like. But we needs some words in addition to photos.
 
The first picture could be vent pecking, but it would help to get a pic after cleaning her bottom. Over crowding, boredom, and too little protein in the diet can lead to feather picking and vent pecking. Poopy butts can also cause flies to lay maggot eggs in hot weather. As Azygous said, more information would help.

I posted this because I don't know if I should be concerned about it. Only two hens have it. (I only have hens) i did not have time tonight to wash them but I will do that tomorrow and put more pictures up. I guess why I'm worried is I lost a chicken after noticing similar symptoms earlier this year. I did wash her and try to treat her best I could but she still died. I also lost another one to I believe a prolapse.
