HELP CHICKEN CAN'T WALK AND MAKING GURGLING SOUNDS AND IS COUGHING

My Dora is having the same thing. Vet put her on antibiotics but not helping. Very hard to give her meds, any ideas? Gurggly breathing , now coughing up mucus. She has never been sick, 6 yrs old

to allsmiles: She may have fluid in her lungs from something that antibiotics cannot fix. At her age, I'd suspect ovarian cancer, which ends in basically heart failure from the drag on all the organs. Their body begins retaining fluid and it fills the lungs. Have seen it in my hens over 5 years of age.

If it's not that, could be a virus, which, of course, antibiotics won't fix, either, but at her age, I suspect it's not technically respiratory.


To the OP, I'm so sorry about your hen. I suspected she was close to death from what you said.
