Help! Chicken eye ingury from weasel

Did she lose the eyelid?  The eye looks almost like an eye that is affected by Mareks.  I'm not sure, but I don't know if Neosporin is made to put into eyes.  Or did you just apply it to the outside rim?  I'm just wondering if that did it or if eyes that go blind just always look like that.  I'm not sure what to do to keep stuff out.  She may be fine with it just as it is.  Maybe a rinse once in awhile or eye ointment.  If flies or other things start bothering it,, you might try to come up with a hood or eye patch.  I know they use them on falcons.  It will take her a bit to become adjusted to one eye, but she should be ok as long as she doesn't have to keep an eye out for predators.

Wouldn't both of her eyes have a small pupil if she had Mareks? Maybe the predator who took out her eye lid spread the Mareks to her? It could be a possibility. I will keep her contained to see if there are any other symptoms of the virus. I have been applying the Neosprin in her eye and all around the edges to stop the swelling... Autumns eye looks like it it out of its socket. I was thinking of putting an eye patch on her eye, but she can't stand even a small bandage on it. Maybe that's my best chance of keeping stuff out of her eye. Here is her good eye. The pupil is more full

I think her injured eye just looks smaller because of all of the scar tissue and atrophy of her eye which is normal after such a serious injury. It is difficult to really see the size and shape of her pupil in your other picture. Mareks is spread by other birds, and it takes at least 3 weeks to affect a chicken. I wouldn't even worry about it at this point. I'm glad that she is recovering well.

No, it's not spread by predators. Like eggcessive said, other birds, wild or domestic and carried in the wind. It can affect only one eye and it doesn't necessarily mean the bird will be affected by the other types of Mareks, like the leg paralysis or internal tumors. If the eye was normal before the attack, it is not likely Mareks. I would think the neosporin did it. I have never heard of putting it in the eye or if it is even safe to put in the eye. Antibiotic eye ointment should be used, imo. But, like I said, I don't know the safety of putting it in the eye, so I could be wrong. It doesn't look like she needs it anymore anyway. She should adjust and be fine. Will not see as well as others, but if in a pen, should be fine. I would just keep an eye on her for dirt and flies and rinse it out for her with tepid saline once in awhile if her eyelid no longer works.

Plain neosporin (or Triple Antibiotic) is fine to use in the eye. It is not sterile as Neosporin eye ointment is that is sold only with a prescription for many $$$, but it works fine. There has been a controversy about it's use on here for years, but I have used it successfully, and a pharmacist once posted here that it was perfectly safe.Terramycin eye ointment is available at many TSC or feed stores if you ask for it, and that is for eyes. Vetericyn also has eye wash and eye gel available for over $20.

Thanks for all the new info! It's very helpful

I will start treating her once I get the Terramycin eye ointment. For now, I will keep on applying the Neosporin to her eye.

Once I introduce her back to the flock, I will keep a close eye on her. I am positive she will get dirt in her eye because she loves dust bathing. So I may try out the eye patch idea. I don't want it to get more infected then it already is. I am relieved to know she most likely doesn't have Mareks because I know once a chicken has Mareks it spreads through the flock and stays forever.
