HELP CHICKEN WITH MUCUS IN MOUTH..

I'm sorry :hugs
Did the vet run a test? How does the vet know it's cancerous?
I still think it could be from some respiratory disease.
@Wyorp Rock, what do you think?
It's good she's eating and drinking more!

No he didn't run anything!! He just got me all upset and $130 later I still know nothing and I too don't feel it's cancer??!! The only good thing that came from seeing him is that he gave her pain medicine which definitely does help her to be able to at least eat some small amounts here and there.. She's been really going for watermelon.. I guess cause it's cool and I mash it all up for her so she can eat the small pieces and drink the juice as well. She also was actually eating the regular crumble feed awhile ago as well.. not the wet mash I made her, but the actual dry feed! So I was glad to see that. However I'm worried sick as she's such a special little chicken and truly part of our family!!

That just makes me mad. He should have tested, or said it COULD be cancerous.
At least the pain meds helped. I'm going to do some reading, to see if I can figure this out.

Thank you so very much!! I am trying to find anything that begins with these symptoms and turns into this beak/mouth issue! Cause you know it all started with her eye being closed one morning and her cheek swollen yet more like mushy and soft not hard or solid and we thought something bit her. Now I'm thinking maybe it was a mosquito which can actually cause something like this to develop in the mouth. A friend sent me the link to it!! I have to look for it and I'll send you that link to see what you think. I do very truly appreciate all the time you're taking trying to help me with this!! I owe you!! 🙏🙏🙏

No problem!
Same here.
That's what has me confused. The swelling eye and mucus looks like a respiratory disease, but the lesion in her mouth looks like canker.
I'm happy to help! I hope we get this figured out soon!
Hopefully some of the experts I tagged with chime in.

Does this look similar?https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/canker.1322639/page-2
@Eggcessive, @casportpony, @azygous, does this look like it could be canker? Or does it look like a respiratory disease?

This is the link the other lady sent and it can begin with a mosquito bite!! If she was bitten by a mosquito it could have caused her cheek to swell to the point the eye was closed??!! Then this stuff can be caused by that same bite and to me it looks very similar to what she's got???

That does look similar. That could be it.

Look what I just found and it says facial swelling can also occur!!

I've seen stuff like this before, and with mine, it's been wet pox several times in 2013, canker in two pigeons (never in a chicken), and in several it's been cancer.

Call the vet and ask if they will prescribe some Baytril in case it's bacterial, and metronidazole in case it's canker.
