My little hen has a big problem. I think also worms have infected her. She lost a lot of weight so far but i do my best to feed her. The smell from her is really bad, and it is now worse than you see in the picture. Tomorrow the vet will give me some anti-parasite medication, but what can i do for the prolapse? It seems that no droppings are coming out for her, and they have a semi-liquid form as you see on the pic.

What can i do to help her? Thanx in advance.

You need to separate her from the rest of the flock. Clean the area with warm water. Gently push the prolapse in and if you feel comfortable doing it you can use preparation H on it to help the swelling. Yes I was told to do this by a vet.

FYI It works really well on dogs also.

Edited to add cleaning the area

I would wash all that poop and stuff off 1st . then do what bgelber says. I had one with the same problem before and it worked great...... keep her seperated in a dark quiet area...

Thanx a lot for your help. I should have seen this coming. Last week i had some eggs with blood stains. Night time over here i will do this tomorrow morning. Hope it will not be late.

She managed to release some droppings with my help basically, and now she drops little by little. I am not sure if she can make it or not. She really lost a lot of weight, and i am not sure if she will survive a laxative. I will wait till tonight and see. If will shoot up an antiseptic inside her rectum hoping to fight the infection. Poor girl she is really in pain.... If i give her some oil will it act a natural laxative?

That looks so nasty! We had a little chick with a similar problem with out the worms. We soaked her in Epsom salt baths daily and she got better really fast, I also gave her a little Epsom water to help her poop.

She seems to be better. Tomorrow I will give her some epsom salt or laxative, depends what I will find. She ate a whole egg tonight, which is a good sign. I also washed her vent with a mix of olive oil and a herb that has antiseptic properties. Igave her some of this mix orally too. I hope that I can save her. Poor girl, I made her a small "house" next to the coop to spent the nights, but she goes in front of the coop door to rest for the night.

A vent gleet. I hope that she won't suffer a prolapse too. Really unlucky girl. Tomorrow i will give her also some yogurt and egg.
