Hi all,

any advice would be appreciated!

We have no idea what is going on with this chicken - she is around 2 years old, seemed healthy, top of the pecking order.... none of our other 6 hens are having this issue but she has severe feather loss on her bum and neck. I know it's molting season but the feather loss is so patchy, and none of the other girls are having the issue. No change in diet, and we noticed the feather loss a couple days ago. She seems fine walking around, although not as eager to jump into the compost as usual :). Is it mites or some other pest? Hasn't been laying for a few weeks or so - but neither have most of the girls with the cold. Any thoughts/previous experience?
I attached a couple photos (they're a bit blurry - sorry!) for reference.
Thanks!!

It looks like a molt to me! Are you finding feathers scattered on the ground? Or are there birds pecking at her? You may want to sit and watch your flock for a while to make sure no one is pecking her. Good luck!

I feed Grower at all times and toss out dry cat food that is fish based a couple times a week during moult...They don't all moult at the same time...Sometimes they can get a bit run down if protein is low..Feathers are protein ....
