Hey hey everyone! I'm a new chicken owner I have six buff orpingtons. I've had them now for about 6 weeks and just barely noticed that one of them has extremely yellow legs! The other ones all have normal colored legs! Is is this normal for them? Pictures included so you can see how yellow they are! and does anybody know when I can start to tell if they are hens or roosters? They will be 12 weeks old this coming Sunday.

Okay it doesn't really matter to me what type of chicken it is as long as it looks healthy and happy! Is the buff rock just a different breed of buff orpingtons?

This is a pic of what my other chickens look like ..

Yes! Barred Plymouth Rocks, or White Plymouth Rocks are much more common, you may be familiar with Barred Rocks. She should lay a slightly different colored egg, my Orpingtons lay light tan/pinkish colored eggs, and my Barred Rocks lay very light brown eggs. Her feathering may be less fluffy than your Orpingtons, her body type may end up being a little different too. It's hard to predict if they came from a hatchery, they usually focus on egg production above everything else so they may end up being identical except for the beak and legs.

Lol. No they aren't. Buff Rocks and Buff Orpingtons are two different breeds of chickens. Buff is just a color that both those birds happen to come in

Hahaha... Thank you all for your help!! They've been fun and are starting to get their own personalities! At what age do they normally start to lay? And should I give them a special feed at that time?! Thank you so so so much!!

They should start laying at 5.5 months and at that time they should be given layer feed
