Baby chicks sleep any old which way they happen to fall asleep. (Hence the drowning in the waterer problem.) Even now, when I know they fall asleep in all sorts of positions, I will tap the side of the brooder when I see a slew of "dead chicks" laying all over. Whew! They ALWAYS wake up.
