Help!!! Chicks pecking!!!

Yes, we moved the brooder from our basement to the coop and made the brooder perimeter bigger. They seem calmer (right now). Today I am going to make a trip to town to pickup some more supplies... Boss, iodine, that blue stuff, ummm any other suggestions? Hubby's going to make some roosts today. I will find some stuff to put in there to keep them busy. So is it ok to give them lettuce or dandilion leaves? They are only 5 or 6 days old. I guess I'll need to provide grit too. I was scared they'd eat a whole bunch thinking it was a treat.

Your chicks sound much happier now!! How are they doing?????

They seem to be doing much better. They are in smaller groups around the brooder keeping occupied by different things rather than all being fixated on one thing. I put lots of nice size branches in the brooder for them to peck at and roost on and sprinkled a few seeds into the litter for them to forage for. I'm still completely baffled as to what went wrong, but I guess I may never really know. Bought some BOSS just have to figure out how to use them as a suppliment. Treated the injured birds with iodine and stop peck. And they are in a separate brooder. I just hep tomorrow when I go out to the coop all is still well and there are no more surprises. Wish me luck!! Oh, and thanks for asking!!

I would hold off till they were a couple of weeks old but a cooked egg would be a good treat ....

I agree, at this age a couple of bells will do the job. I hang lettuce and stuff in my coop to keep them occupied, forgot yours were still young. :p

I am glad they are doing better! :D

Well they have been outside for several days now ....
