Help. Chicks won't stop chirping and wont let me put them down

I wrapped them in a towel and held them for 30 minutes before they finally went to sleep. Then i put them back i the brooder they were quite for the rest of the night. Here in North Texas its been in the 70s and 80s lately. I dont know what happened.

I had the light on in the house when they started this. I didn't turn off the light in the room until after the quited down and were back in the brooder. The only thing i can think of is that they didn't want me to put the lid back on the brooder. During the daytime lately ive been taking the lid off so they can get in and out as they need. Maybe they were acting like 2yr olds not wanting to go to bed. LOL

By the way. When they were chirping loudly they were NOT huddling together. They were acting like they wanted out of the brooder. Acting like and looking for a place to jump out of the brooder. I looked inside the brooder and didn't see any thing that was changed like something getting in like a fly or something

Good grief. Chicks at four weeks do NOT need a heat lamp! Do. Not. Need. Heat. Unless it's below freezing. Do you keep your house at 30F?

Your chicks need space. They need a coop. They need a run to run around in.

How is your weather these days? Is it getting into the 70s during the day? Is it above freezing at night? If so, you can begin letting your chicks spend all day out in the run and bring them inside at night. After a few days of that routine, you can move them into the coop and let them fend for themselves.

No heat unless you want to keep them from ever being cold hardy.

I was thinking in terms of here, not Texas. My bad!

Thats my guess, time to move them out in the coop, past time actually.

I have no Idea, mine coming this week but they will not be in the house at all, coop from day one. Lows will be in the 30's this week. Heat plate in the in coop brooder.

Good luck

Gary
