Help! Cockerel caught in trap! *ASAP*

Pics
I'm just worried because he has the leg lifted up to his body and his foot is curled up and he doesn't use it at all anymore. He just hops. The foot is warm though....
It's good that the foot is still warm. If it wasn't warm, I'd be worried. I think this here is great advice. vv
Chickens do that with a sore leg or foot - hold it close to their belly. It's sort of like when we hit our thumb with a hammer, we hold the thumb tight with the other hand and.....say naughty words.

Any honey from the store will do the job.

Manuka honey if you can get it is the best premium stuff for wounds, sore throats, everything, but it's very expensive.

I'd put him back out as soon as you can ensure he isn't being pecked and he can cope with coop life. Being separated will cause him stress in itself.
My understanding is that store bought honey is actually *not* okay for wound care as it can introduce a lot of bacteria to a wound and cause an infection.

Instead, a sugar wrap can be used in a pinch to ward off infection if you don't have medical honey or can't afford it. You can do a search for sugar wrap wound care to find more info.

As stated many times in this thread though, neosporin would be the cheapest and easiest thing to use to help the wound heal and prevent a dangerous infection.

Yes, do NOT use store-bought honey — it has too many preservatives and is more like corn syrup at that point than actual honey. It'll attract flies and increases the risk of infection due to bacteria.

If you're going to use honey, ONLY use Manuka honey or MediHoney — these are the only honeys that are sterilized to prevent infection.

You can use organic honey, but seems like a waste since it's not on biscuits with butter.
Agreed. In one way anyways. I only use the raw organic honey in or on everything. It sure tastes good!
As far as honey being used as a medicine, I never knew that before, and now on this thread I'm finding that out. Now that's pretty cool! I'll have to remember that!

I'm in the UK and I don't think we have the same store honey you do in the US! Ours is basically just pure honey, nothing else. And I think it is pasteurised. But I get mine straight from a local beekeeper anyway.
