Help! Cockerels???

Nice pictures, thank you!

But, I'm still conflicted. At this age, I would expect a LOT more development in a rooster, but it just doesn't look like a hen to me. On those profile pics, it sure seems like I can see little tiny pointy saddle feathers coming in. This color can make hackle feathers difficult to see, the color tends to make feathers look pointy when they're really not, it's just the color.

How sure are you on age? What's the youngest this bird could be? I'm leaning toward maybe a younger cockerel, or just the slowest-maturing bird in the world!

I think I brought it on the 19th of June and it wasn't very old, a few weeks, which would make it around 16 - 18 weeks maybe. So it's a bit of guess work really. I know it isn't as old as my Silkie, which is around 20 weeks, it's a pretty big bird. It's legs are huge and it does puff it's neck feathers up and squares up to the younger birds (which seem to be cockerels)

Question,
Is it possible to have Hens with large combs & waddles?

I got my "girls" the end of April & we had our first eggs today! They will be 16 weeks (from being home) on the 14th. I haven't had any cock-a-doodle-doo's (yet) but am worried I have a rooster or two even though I requested a straight run.

Yes, hens can have large combs and wattles, depending on the breed. Best to take pictures, profile is best, and start your own thread here. Let us know the age and the breed.

correct me if i am wrong, but doesn't straight run mean, no sexing and the take them without knowing what they are? so you would expect a roo or two?
