Over the last two weeks I've had three chickens prolapsed...or I'm assuming. Two have died in the last two days. Some of my remaining girls have what looks like vent gleet. I've been treating with epsom salt and hemorrhoid cream. The chickens that have died had their intestines removed when I find them. I have no drakes and my hens are in a run, not free range. No treats. No change in diet. Thoughts or suggestions?!?!? I wormed them tonight and fed yogurt. I can't keep losing these girls. Thanks in advance

Welcome to BYC. What are you feeding them, and do they have access to food and water at all times when awake? It sounds to me like you could possibly be having a problem with vent pecking. Vent pecking can lead to cannibalism, and it can occur if there is a prolapse, but if the vent is being pecked causing feather loss, redness, a little blood, they can continue to peck until the large intestine is pulled out. How many birds do you have in how much room? Adult chickens require 4 square feet of room in the coop, but more importantly, they need to get outside to roam around and get away from each other. Chickens require at least 16 to 20% protein in their diets, and a good layer or all flock feed with crushed oyster shell available.

Thank you for your responce! I'm not sure on the actual demensions, but when building out coop we did research and followed the recommendations. They have access to an enclosed run with food and water as well as food and water in the coop. I feed them a 16% layer pellet no oyster shells. They have access to DE. I'm still worried about the vent gleet. I'm seeing white discharge from some of them.
