Ok she's been back with her flock since Sunday. She's walking around, drinking, but she lays down alot. I picked her up to check for bumblefoot (it was my bi weekly check for this) and she is SO SKINNY! I don't think she's been eating. I wormed her again with fenbendazole (sp) and she does have the beginnings of bumblefoot so I treated and wrapped her feet too. I saw her go to the feeder, but she just knocks out the feed onto the ground then walks away.Of course she can go back to her mates. In fact, you should be treating the whole flock. Safeguard treats gape worm along with other common species.
Her crop is not 100% empty, but I don't feel any feed in there either. I made a mash of her feed for her and she sat in my lap and ate some, but I don't think it was enough to matter. I am going to go out and give her this every morning. I hope she will increase her intake and get her weight up. She used to weigh 4.4 lbs, now she hardly feels like 2 lbs, but I haven't officially weighed her. I will do that in the morning. I would bring her in and do this, but she refuses to eat when in her henspital crate. Sadly, at this point I am wondering if it may be cancer given she's a hybrid prone to that.
She's only 2 1/2 years old. She hasn't laid an egg in a few months. She doesn't seem uncomfortable, just tired. Her comb has good color, eyes are clear, no resp symptoms, no mites/lice and still walks around with her sisters. Didn't see her poop when I was out there so I don't know about that yet. The heat isn't helping either. ugh.
