Help crows stalking my chickens they wont go away

I've come to appreciate crows. I have a huge cypress tree next to the chicken coup that several crows are in all the time. My chickens free range most days. Yesterday a hawk flew into the tree. I immediately put my chickens into their covered run. 7 or 8 crows totally harassed the hawk in the tree. Dive bombing it over and over until the hawk finally flew away with several crows chasing it. Crows are now my second favorite birds. That said, I did have a cover over my chickens until they were nearly fully grown.

I have witnessed this behavior with "my" group of crows many times. And they even ran a Bald eagle off earlier in the spring that had landed in "their" oak tree.

The overwhelming majority of people are like me. They do not have active crow's nest nearby from which adult crows would come out to harass hawk. The benefits of such harassment are seasonal. We are spending too much time focusing on the rare.

I commonly see: crows , blue jays, and red wing black birds attack hawks \ eagles in my area.

Like said it's seasonal,

and not reliable at keeping birds of prey away.

Thanks everyone for input on crows. One did kill my islanders adult chicken, last year, so I'm freaking out they'll do it again. Hopefully not. My yard is a acre and 7 ft brick wall. I have a 24 ft coup, with net and secure, but the little guys cry to get out n play in the yard. So its a double edge problem.
Only threat is from the sky,
I have a goose, but they appear not to be afraid of her. Just hope I don't have to resort to netting the hole back yard,,ugggh.
