Hi just wondering what i should do. I have had terrible luck with 2 batches of quail eggs. No hatches. I float tested yesterday and one was wiggling so he was alive, popped back in bator 37.5 temp and 60% humidity, yesterday humidity spiked to 80% but i got it down now its sitting between 60 and 70. What should i do? I dont know if he is still alive, no movement and i just dont know what to do :( any help is appreciated.

What type of quail? I would candle and see. If he is internally pipped, you can make a small hole in the top of the air cell so he can breathe. Tap on his shell and see if you hear anything

Let me know what you see. Btw, I wouldn't float test anymore. I never do it, and it can be unreliable. There is also a high chance of drowning the growing chick. IMO. He might be fine, but I wouldn't do it in the future ;)

Oh okay! I wont do it anymore. I couldnt see any definate movement and the air cell is still intact. It looked quite red in the egg more so than black. Im not sure, do you think he still has a chance 3 days overdue?

I would leave it just in case. Take it out and set in on the floor, (have your hands right next to it in case) but whistle to the egg and talk to it and lightly tap the shell and shine the light at it (don't drop the light on it) and see if it wiggles or chirps. I've had good luck with this. If it doesn't do anything, it's chances are low, but leaving it in one more day won't hurt. Fingers crossed for you and your little baby 🤞

How many eggs are in your incubator right now? Any more viable ones?

do you have a calibrated thermometer? did you salt test your hygrometer for accuracy? have you successfully incubated in this incubator before? i always allow up to 5 days past hatch date or 48 hours after first hatch before calling it. your temp could be low or your incubator could have cold spots.

Ive lost all but 2, float test yesterday the other one didnt move bit it was the first (and last) time ive float tested so i have left that one in aswell. Total of 2 eggs, that with candling show full sized chicks. Fingers crossed, i will try popping him on the floor. Thankyou for your help :)
