HELP!!! DAY 30 AND NO PIPS BUT THEYRE ALIVE?!?!!

32nd day. I have a question. From what I can tell one of my eggs started to zip this morning but hasn’t made any progress. Do I need to help it? The zip is almost the size of the top half of the egg.
How long has it been like that? Zipping is usually a pretty quick process that is around a half an hour or so. If they have been working on it for an hour and have quit making progress, it usually means they got stuck or are struggling and I will carefully assist a very tiny bit at a time. If any bleeding happens they are not ready and should go back in the incubator.

Some duck breeds have incubation period of 34 days, like Muscovies. Also, I was having late hatches and found out my thermometer was a whole degree low. Now I use 2 thermometers, one digital for the hygrometer and one non digital. The digital ones just dont seem to last very well and cant be calibrated easily.

The best way I can put this is it looks like three pips but put together. It’s not too big but i’m still worried.

Yeah i’ve always had a late hatch. I’m getting a new incubator so it should be fine for the future.

Do you have a picture? How long since it pipped the first time? Or the second time? Did you mist during the hatch?
The duck pipped about 32 hours ago. It has made progress. I change what I’ve said. It looks like a big pip. I don’t think it’s zipping. The membrane looks white. And I was just worried they shrink wrapped after I added water.

The duckling just shoved their bill out of the shell and is breaking the shell so I’m not too worried anymore.

32 hours can be ok. 36 is my cutoff when I take a look. Ducks can be really slow to hatch compared to chickens. Adding water shouldn't shrink wrap anyone.
