Help! Day 31 Single Muscovy Pipped Internally

The new little one is here! I came back around 8pm today and found that it had pipped in another area, so after candling and making sure all of the blood had been absorbed, I slowly peeled the shell and membrane off. It's head was oddly placed, trapped under a leg? Not sure if that's why it took so long but the moment the head was free it literally popped out of the egg.

It's only been about 15 minutes but it's starting to stand in the incubator. I have the brooder ready and I will move it in once it "fluffs" out.

How long do you think I should wait before I deal with the other eggs? It's day 34 right now.

It depends. Are you hearing any sounds from the other eggs/ducklings? Any movement? I'd wait until tomorrow at least - but eggs often pip late.

No sounds, no movement that I could discern. Two of them haven't even drawn the air sac down. I think the remaining one with the air sac drawn down might be viable? Thought I saw some slight movement when I candled it earlier but I'm pretty exhausted so I don't know if my eyes are just messing with me.

I guess it's not like I can't wait a few more days and I'll wait until day 38.

By the way, not sure if this is cause for any alarm, but on one of the eggs, the pointy side (non air sac side) has darkened? I'll take a picture when I can get the contrast right.

Also, when should I start giving it water? I'm not entirely comfortable leaving it without something to drink overnight...

Ok. It's impossible to say if they are good or not for sure, since there is no way to really tell. If you saw movement, that's great!

You might want to help earlier than day 38...if it were me, I might make a pip on day 36, if the ducklings had not already. Your choice, though.

They're good for a couple days - tomorrow morning when he's all dry and fluffy you can put him in your brooder with food and water. I prefer to wait until I've got two dry chicks, but you don't have a guarantee more will hatch.

It was actually trying to eat the wood shavings in the brooder so I ended up giving it some electrolyte water with niacin added, and wet unmedicated grower and it's eating like a champ.

I just decided to pip the air cell--all of the rest were dead. Fully formed and the one who had drawn the air sac down even absorbed all the blood but for whatever reason failed to pip. The other two didn't get so far Wish I had thought to begin helping when the first one pipped.

I'm going to keep the brooder in the coop with the rest of the muscovies (I have juveniles and adults) so hopefully it won't be too lonely. If I think it's failing to thrive, there's a place by me that has babies (but they're a little older) so I'll get another one (my husband's going to kill me since I'm starting another hatch...)
