Wow, sounds like you got a broke hubby....send him our way and he'll be fixed before you know it!!! All he'll have to see is the setup we have and he'll be sooo appreciative of you that he'll do anything you ask!!! My hubby went along to the feed store, laughed and agreed that the chicks were cute, even let me buy 10 of them. Then, every time I went to get feed, I'd pick up one or two more. Finally I had 20, he didn't mind. Then I mentioned moving a 16x8 coop 35 miles with a 4x8 trailer and his f-150. Wow, sh-you-know-what hit the fan quick fast and in a hurry! He wasn't happy about that, he complained, he yelled, he screamed, and I stayed out of it and didn't even try helping (he hates my 'help', which actually equals me telling him how to do it). We got it moved in four trips, reassembled it, and all the sudden he didn't have a problem. The work was done! The chickens got bigger, started laying, and he had a favorite. I sprained my ankle really bad one day stepping out of the coop, and from that moment on HE became the official egg collector, feeder, waterer, etc. All I do is admire them. My ankle is better now, but he still does the work.
Like I said, ur hubby would be GRATEFUL after ONE week, tops!!! LOL!!!
To the OP: walk into the house, right in front of him. Leave the box of chicks outside (get an even number of them) and carry them in, two at a time, holding your hands under your shirt like you're hiding something. Tiptoeing is a great effect. Keep this up till all chicks are inside. Hopefully after the second or third trip he'll ask you what you're doing. He'll be so overcome by how cute you are that he won't be mad!!! BWAHAHAHAHA!!! Even better, if one of the chicks chirps while you're carrying it, freeze and get that 'Oh, no, I've been caught!" look on your face, then walk real fast to the brooder. LOL!!!
Edit to add: We now have 50+ and hatching eggs on the way!!! LOL!!! AND, he BEGGED me to try hatching!
