Help diagnosing my Roo....

I just got off the phone with Jarra F. Jagne, the Poultry Specialist at Cornell. Wow what a great idea to contact them I had no idea that someone would actually help and she called me and spoke to me about him - how awesome. Anyhow, not so great for Roo I am afraid... She says he is a big bird and he has tendon issues which may have been caused by growing too fast in conjunction with not enough calcium in his diet. I have been slacking off on oyster shells because I had no issues with weak eggshells and I didn't realize he needed the calcium to grow properly. Now my poor guy will continue to get worse until he can not get up anymore. She also said definitely not Merecks at his age and with no ther deaths. She said if he had Merecks he would have laid down and not been able to move by now and died and I would have had other birds affected. Anyhow, thanks to everyone who chimed in and especially Leadwolf1 for suggesting I contact Cornell. She said that is what they are there for :)

This may be a long shot but, if I were you, I would start pushing yogurt for Calcium or buy a calcium supplement. I would also get the Tri Vi Sol form of Poly Vi Sol. It contains C, A and D. Maybe, just maybe, you can treat him for Rickets and he will improve. It is just a shot in the dark but, better then just waiting for the inevitable.

I'm so glad that they could help!

All credit goes to Haunted55. If it wasn't for her saying that she had contacted someone at Cornell for some Marek's information, I would never have known to suggest it.
