I have been told Turkey's are quite finicky but what we have been experiencing seems unreasonable., we have set roughly 15 or 16 eggs turkey eggs, our hatch rate has been about 60%, the part that really concerns me is that our of our first 4 that hatched only 1 survived, the rest pasted after a few days, some seemed to flip over and had difficulty getting up so we had to use a ring to keep them upright. The next few we had 3 of 6 eggs hatch and all 3 did well however we had 1 that flipped as well and again had to use the ring. Today we had 5 eggs and 2 have hatched with two more that are piped. One hatched and passed almost immediately in the incubator, the other we put in the brooder and it got stuck in the water fountain and I guess it couldn't get out.
Any tips or tricks with Turkey's, we hatch Ducks, Quail and Chickens and have been very successful. We got the parents as chicks last year and had no issue with raising them all 6 survived. I have stopped setting eggs from the pair that we found the chicks to flip over. We should have some hatching from our royal palm eggs shortly and hope we can figure out what is going on before we lose anymore. The poults that have been passing are mixed breed. We have tried the "stress aid" from the farm pharmacy that is essentially vitamins and electrolyte you mix in the water.
Thanks
