My little hen that went missing out in the woods, returned yesterday she was out over night 3 in a row, so either something happened to the eggs or she just gave up too. What ever I am glad she is back.
Yay!
Goofball chickens. When will they learn we have only their best interest in mind?
I am much relieved to not deal with a broody now. Next year we should have a nice set up at our new house. Right now we barely have enough space for the chickens we have, and we rent the land, so it's not ours. At our new house I am planning an enormous coop with several sections so I can have more than one flock and do some breeding. We will have 3.5 acres....think of how many chickens I can have!
I am a little grossed out tonight, but I think it will be ok. I went out and looked at Pearl (not the limping one, but the other injured one). I was looking at the scab on her back and it was thick and black and yucky, so I pried it up a bit. It looked so nasty I ended up pulling it off. The hole underneath was HUGE!!!
OMW!! I had no idea! It didn't smell funny or look pussy but I took her in and rinsed it good with some special solution, then sprayed it with Blu-Kote. I'm a little worried because I was thinking they were about healed and now I see that gaping hole on her back.
I'm hoping that makes it heal better because I pulled off Bridget's scab awhile ago and her spot seems to be healing much better now. I need some hen saddles to protect their backs.
