i have a swan egg that was rescued from predators. My EE hen has been sitting on it to see if we could hatch it. Well 2 days ago, I heard peeping from the egg. I also heard peeping yesterday. So in all reality, I expected to see a pip this morning but there is nothing and now I can’t hear any peeping. I would so hate to loose this baby after all this time and so close to hatch. Should I start a pip for it as it is obviously going to run out of air if it hasn’t already because of no pip. Or do I wait another day? This is really stressing me out.

I would start a small pip hole. I actually have some of my swans hatching right now. Do you have the egg in an incubator or under the hen? I would also put the egg on a flat hard surface and whistle to it. Usually the egg should wiggle.

I have the egg under the hen still. I am going to go out and get it and start a pip hole. Should I wrap the egg in a warm towel while doing this or is it okay without heat? I fired up the incubator and will put it in there after I pip it. How high of humidity should I strive for? 70% or higher?

A warm towel would be a good idea. I like 70-75%

What’s gonna best the best tool to make the hole with?

I fear I may be too late. I can’t hear peeping and doesn’t seem to be movement. I should have done this yesterday. I am completely bummed!
