HELP! Drake injured from fighting. =(

He was only willing to eat a very small amount of earthworm this morning. I offered him some more this afternoon, but he rejected it. Hopefully it will look appetizing enough to him that he egg eats tomorrow. I think he might be spending a lot of time I'm the duck house to avoid the sunlight. I would imagine it hurts his eyes. I'm pretty sure he is blind in his left eye.
I put a powder with vitamins and electrolytes in their water dispenser, but I haven't actually seen him use it. Every time I see him drinking, it's from the kiddie pool.
I fed my rooster and silkie porige and Greek yogourt when they were poorly seemed to perk them up but my silkie wasn't eating at first so we had to syringe feed her and we gave them both eye washes everyday with cold green tea

Trying syringe feeding is a good idea just has to be done very slow and small amounts so they don't aspirate. But might be worth trying with this drake. Needleless syringes can be bought at feed store and other places.

Update: I am SO happy today. Every morning I go outside to let my ducks out and have a major fear of finding my boy dead. Today i found that his really bad eye has stopped oozing milky white discharge and his other is not watering as bad. I am still continuing to use the Vetericyn bovine eye wash and Neosporin twice a day. What is making me super excited is that he ate several handfuls of mealworms from my hand and he even took a few bites from the food dish on his own! He still spends a lot of time in the duck house, but instead of hiding in the back corner by himself, he's standing and sitting at the duck house door watching his ladies. I know we're not out of the woods yet, but it is giving me more hope.

Great news!!
Shock can take a bit of time to overcome, not to mention adjusting to not being able to see as well anymore... that will make him leery for a while and gunshy about open spaces... but he should adjust... :fl he keeps on the healing track!

My drake seems to be showing more and more improvement. I'm very happy. I am continuing with the Neosporin and eye wash. I do have one major concern though. He started to successfully preen himself again now that he is feeling better. A few days ago, he was in too much pain to preen. I'm vey happy to see that he's feeling so much better. I am concerned because some of the Neosporin(without pain relief) has gotten onto the feathers he's preening. I hope it won't hurt him. Assuming he lets me, should I try to cut his feathers off all around abrasions? I don't know how long it'll take for them to grow back, and I don't want him to get too cold when the temperature starts to drop.

Once he gets into the pool he'll wash it off. Or you could take a soft wash cloth and wipe it all off and just keep using the Vetericyn only. Can you post a pic on how he looks now?

Has he molted this year yet? he should grow his feathers back pretty good so I wouldn't worry about cutting them. if he had open wounds then trimming the feathers back is a good thing to keep I cleaner and keep the feathers from closing up when the wound heals.

What an awesome update so happy for you and him!!

He still looks pretty rough, especially since his skin is scabbing over, but there is no more oozing from anywhere. The Neosporin in his feathers also makes it look pretty bad. He definitely appears to be blind in that eye, but can still see out of the other. He is adjusting to only having one eye, but seems to be doing pretty well considering. It looks like he has gone back to spending most of his day with his ladies again, instead of hiding in the duck house. He is also eating pretty good on his own from what I've seen. He also gobbles down his mealworms with enthusiasm. Basically, he's starting to act like his old self again, just with a disability. His last molt that I noticed was late spring/early summer when his boy colors came in.

How about some updated pics now to compare. Sounds great he is doing so well. Just needed sometime to recover. One thing the neo may have done is kept flies from laying eggs in his wounds so keep and eye on that you don't want flies getting at any of his injuries if any are still open.
