The vet gave me Loxicom for my Drake who is limping. They said to give .5 mg. But when I look at the syringe that is for a dog that weighs almost 20 pounds. I'm thinking it should've been .05. Can someone please help me?

This is a pain medication. And today is Sunday so I can I get a hold of anyone.

Also would like to talk to somebody about what to do about something with his hip. They want $250 just to do an x-ray and an operation would be so expensive that I can't even consider that. So if anybody is willing to give advice please let me know. We're thinking either it is hip dysplasia or a fracture.

Rest can help with fractures, never heard of hip dysplasia in water fowl not saying it can't happen. Can you give him some water therapy? let him float around in a warm tub of water to take pressure off of his hip and see how he moves in the water. Maybe start out with 15 mins then increase to 30 each time if it doesn't bother him.

As for the meds I am going to tag @casportpony and see if she can help.

How much does he weigh? How many *ml* did your vet say to give? If your vet said to give 0.5 ml I think that's correct. The amount my vet has me give is 0.25 mg/kg twice a day, so for a 7 pound duck the math is this:
7 / 2.2 x 0.25 / 1.5 = 0.53 ml

Trust your vet and follow their instructions!

Thank you. I worried when I saw on the package that dosage was foe an 18# dog.

Yes, I will put him in water and I have him in a small enclosure. He is limping pretty bad.
