Help! duck egg day 29, no pipping - pic included... getting anxious

Have you considered getting a second duckling from somewhere (Tractor Supply has chicks and ducks right now) once this one hatches? Lone chicks/ducks want a lot of attention. They don't like being alone and will peep a lot. I carried my lone duckling around with me for the first week until I got ahold of other ducks for him. Carried a lone chick around for two weeks until other eggs hatched. I tried the mirror trick, but I still thought they peeped a lot. Just something to think about while you wait for your little one to hatch.

Yes they don’t have any ducks right now just chicks so I’ll prob get one after quackers is out so he’s not so lonely

an unbreakable mirror and small stuffed animal often help. But bottom line is it will imprint on you and you will be his flock mate until others arrive.

I had a Muscovy duckling imprint on me he turned out to be a drake and even though he has also imprinted on his girls we got them for him when he was 5 weeks old I will always be his mama. He is now 7 yrs old And still a cuddle bug

I don't want to hi-jack this thread, but I spent a lot of time with my first set of baby ducks. Then I had to take a job that kept me away from the farm 15 hours per day. Today if I go out and sit in the pasture, those original ducks will crawl up into my lap. The new ones not so much.

We’re just talking and killing time while waiting for duckling to make his/her appearance lol. That is very sweet story it’s awesome when they feel so comfortable with us they’ll climb on us eat out of our hands

How much time do you spend with them to get them to bond with you? I'm out there sitting and talking to my week olds about an hour a day but they are convinced I'm a mass murderer. I really don't want them to bond enough to come looking for me but I do want them to follow me back to their run when I go out with treats as they get older and get pond time.

I spent 2-4 hours with the first group. I'd just sit in the brooder and offer meal worms from time to time.

ETA: They'd run all over me and stop for treats.

I usually have coffee in the morning with mine about an hr then off an on through the day I am out cleaning giving out treats then around 5pm I go out and sit about an hr before I start clean up. Get them use to a routine and let treats be the main motivator when I want mine to follow me or come when I call them I put meal worms in a container they know what it looks like I have a whistle I only use when calling when they hear it they come running . Always give out treats and feed them where your going to be putting them to bed. They love routine

Mine come to me when they hear my back door, but I still can’t touch them. One to two feet is their comfort level. But if something scares them, like an airplane, or other bird flying overhead, they will run behind me. They know and trust me, but that’s about it.
