Help! duck egg day 29, no pipping - pic included... getting anxious

Pics
I'm the guy who swore I'd never do an assisted hatch. That all changed a few months ago, when I found a chick chirping at me, but clearly shrink wrapped. Since then I've done more than a dozen assists. Two didn't make it, but the rest thrived. The hardest thing on your first assist is to get your hands to quit shaking.

Quackers did not make it, he was fine 2:30-3:30 peeping etc.tgen 4:30 same then I checked at 5:30 and silence but I looked And he had unzipped so I watched last half hour and nothing so I started to assist and noticed he wasn’t talking but felt it’s brcsuse his position changed. I got a bad feeling like I gotta go in now and I did slowly carefully it it was too late, idk why but he’s gone. I’m so sad

:hugs:hugs:hugsSo sorry...[/QUOTE
Sometimes its just not meant to be... Time to think about what breed you want and get a half dozen one day old ducks. I like breeds that are endangered so I work through the breeders list at the livestock conservancy. There are also many hatchery choices and local breeders.

Thank you for your support. We are all sad, my boys are just bawling right now. We are going to bury him in our yard someplace special & plant a tree in memorial for him. The boys asked to see him. He’s perfect... I realize seeing him right now he must have just passed when I got him out... idk if that’s any comfort. I tried so hard and I thought he would be fine but 38 days was perhaps too much. I thought once he externally pipped he would make it.

@rjohns39 ty for that link when I’m feeling better I’ll look into getting an endangered or threatened eggs to perhaps try again. If I do it again I’ll have an incubator and more knowledge.
Thank you to Everyone who helped with knowledge and support along the way.

I’m Going to take one last pic but I won’t post it if it’s too morbid but I want to remember him
