Your duck's foot is moving towards gangrene. If you cannot see a vet, please get and use the Bayatril ASAP

A vet should be able to do any amputation required for gangrene humanely.

Good luck, all our good energies are with you and your duck
I want to use bayatril correctly and I heard it can cause sour crop if used any longer than 4+ days. Do you have any suggestions for using it?

We use baytril for our runner duck when she gets respiratory infections (as prescribed by vet)…we keep her inside for a week or so, eating normal food and having fresh water. She never got sour crop, even when she was on it for nearly 2 weeks with a bad infection….I’ve actually only seen sour crop in my chickens…but I’m only a duck mom for 3 years…

Here is info on using Baytril for bumble foot with dose [that is why I am giving you this link]
Many of us have used Baytril to treat our poultry including our waterfowl with not any side effects. But I do give a probiotic to help with tummy upset. All antibiotics kill off good and bad bacteria and probiotics help restore good bacteria in the gut.

Its important to stop this infection now. There are possible (rare) side effects of all medications. This infection is serious; if there should be any side effects in the future, we will support you dealing with them as needed.
