Sorry if this is too long, I just want to be as detailed as possible.

I set a bunch of shipped call duck eggs that were due to hatch last Thursday 2/13 and they all hatched then and friday. I also set another batch of my own call duck eggs that were due to hatch today 2/17. Except one of the eggs from the second batch pipped on friday and ended up hatching on Saturday!!! The duckling was very goey and there was a tiny amount of blood in the incubator. Also, the yolk wasn’t fully absorbed and its a dark yellow color with white spots and a bloody bump around the naval! His feet are curled as well and his stomach seems slightly larger than normal. There were also some viens still hanging from the yolk but as of sunday morning they were dried. I kept him in the incubator on warm moist paper towels and wrapped in one, but he is very active(and loud) and will NOT sit still. He will kick his legs and scoot around the entire incubator no matter what I try. As of today the yolk seemed absorbed a little bit more but there are small blood spots around the incubator that seem to be from the bloody area around his naval.
I have no idea what to do as this is only my first time incubating ducks and my second time hatching anything.

@WVduckchick is Call duck specialist. Also @Pyxis and @shawluvsbirds I would take the little one out of wet paper towels. Then put the duckling on a soft dry wash cloth in a bowl inside the bator so it can finish absorbing and not drag itself around and pick up bacteria

I would put the duckling in a bowl with paper towel so that it doesn't get caught on the threads of a towel. It needs to absorb the yolk and dragging around the yolk and getting it caught on something can rip the ducklings intestines out. Plus it's picking up bacteria and other things dragging the yolk around.

Next time you'll know what to do if it happens again. Hope the duckling absorbs the yolk soon so it can get out of the incubator and into the brooder.

Yes. .please remove any wet paper towels, that can actually give it a chill.
I would do just as miss L suggested. Find a small bowl or cup that you can place it in on something soft. Leave it in the incubator until all the yolk is absorbed.
The feet and belly should resolve after a while once it is able to get up and walking around.

Cam you take the duckling out and post a picture of the navel? He's probably getting antsy and overwhelmed by being alone for 2 days.

Oh my goodness, I'm sorry about your difficult first duckling hatch. Did the rest of the yolk absorb or dry? Is his navel fully closed now and bleeding?

Thank you for the reply.
No the naval wasn’t bleeding until this morning and it is still not closed, it’s been the same all weekend, but its not constantly bleeding just a little bit. The yolk is absorbed but Im really not sure what a normal yolk is supposed to look like at this point, I just don’t think it looks right.
