It's doing really well now! It's very loud lol and is fluffing out. I'm going to move it into the brooder in about an hour with the other hatched duckling. =]
This happened when my ducks started hatching 6 days early...on Easter! I was so worried because the first one had this little trial of yolk on its butt. After several hours it started pulling it out farther so I tied it off with a string and cut it. Today its 2 months later and "Easter" is perfectly fine!
With my hatch Friday the first duck to pip had made not much progress in over 24 hours. The others had went from pip, to zip, to completely hatched and this one hadnt progressed. Finally after everyone was out I peeled away some shell. The way this duck was posistioned it just couldnt get out. It too had a little yolk that I snipped off. It went in the brooder and is perfectly fine. Its name is actually Lightning McQueen because its the fastest little duck I have ever seen. Just hours after it was born it was an olympic runner for sure. My mom put it down and wanted to see it walk and instead the thing ran to the next room and hid under a pillow. I never knew ducks could run or move so fast! Besides running fast though its the calmest duck, it just chills while the others get into trouble.
Yours will be just fine! It can also just be its first poop.
Two other ducklings are stuck inside their eggs too...ugh. The humidity in the incubator must be really bad cause the membrane is pure white... I really hope they make it! *crossesfingers*
I misted some, but the water would get cold really fast so that was probably a problem. All four babies made it! =] I lost one poor little guy who didn't pip at all. The membrane was shrink wrapped to it...but 4 out of 5 for Calls is still really good!
The one with the most yellow is named Blitz-duck, the other yellow-ish one with some gray is named Slinky-duck. one black & yellow one is named Zip-Lock ("Zippy-duck") and the other black & yellow one is named Tipsy-duck. =]
My mom is only letting me keep two...but I really want to keep all four!
