help dying goat!!!!!!!!

I have a almost three week old baby goat that I am bottle feeding. A few days ago he became constipated, I tried an enema and only got a little poop. Yesterday he didn't poop at all. he was extremely bloated and I had to fight him to eat. He was also lethargic. He has never developed an appetite and I always have to fight him to eat but yesterday I could barely get him to eat. We gave him mineral oil and put karo syrup in his bottle. We took him to the vet yesterday evening and they just said to keep giving him karo syrup and mineral oil, and they gave him an antibiotic shot and a vitamin shot. He also had a slightly raised fever yesterday. Today he looks really bad. He is extremely weak and can barely walk. I could barely get any food down him too. He is like my child and Ican't stand the thought of losing him.

Oh no! I really don't know what else to add, it sounds like you are doing everything possible. Can the vet not get him to empty his bowels? Put him on an I.V. for nourishment? I'm sorry you are having these troubles but I would take him back to the vet for more support. Good luck and keep us posted.

So sorry you are having such trouble. What are you feeding the baby? Is it a doe, buck or weather? Fluids IV or even SQ with some B12 added will give them a pick me up. Is it getting any hay? I will say a prayer for you both but I would have vet with some goat experience have a try?

he is eating whole cow's milk. Normally he eats hay but not today or yesterday. I am calling another vet today, the vet I took him to yesterday is a large animal vet but he didn't seem to care about my baby.

i'm so sorry. is it possible that he is having issues with the flora in his rumen? perhaps probiotics might work. Also, as weird as this sounds, try giving him some baking soda.

I wouldn't give him whole cow's milk for any reason. But in this case you may want to scour him a little. I wouldn't do it personally though. I would try to get him some Ultra24 milk replacer and instead of straight water I would mix it 50/50 with water and pedialyte. This doesnt sound like a constipation problem more then a twisted bowel (have you massaged on its left abdomen like you would with gas?). I do agree with everything that pride and joy said in her post. I have a friend down here who people think more highly of then any vet in a 300 mile radius. I am going to PM you my cell phone number if you want to call me and I will call Joe and see what he says about it.
Right now I would say to keep him/her really warm, maybe wrapped up in a blanket and try to get fluids in.

Where would I get probiotics, and what does the baking soda do, and how do I give the baking soda?

Silverbird, EXCELLENT post, I didn't even think about it. Baking soda and probiotics definitely. In case Silverbird doesnt answer you can get probiotics at any feed store, it comes in a huge syringe looking thing that you squirt in their mouth (sorta like a paste). I would mix a little baking soda in the bottle as well.
