We just got 3 Golden Sex Link chicks to raise with our 2 goslings. One chick just went downhill very quickly. It's sleeping a lot and will stand then lean over falling asleep. Its breathing seems to be a bit labored. We've separated it and are giving it water with sugar and salt for electrolytes but it isn't wanting to drink or eat. It will chirp and struggle if held in a way it doesn't like. Other than that it just stands and leans to fall asleep. Any advice???

You may have to manually feed it with a dropper or q-tip. You don't say how much sugar or salt but it would help to have some vitamins to go with it. Rooster Booster Poultry Cell is the most complete.

Sometimes there are internal things we can't see going on.

CHECK FOR PASTY BUTT... it's deadly fast. and sound just as you describe.. labored breathing.. very often a symptom of organ failure.

If they just come in the mail they may be exhausted and cold.. they can't digest anything until they warm up.

How many days old are they now? Where did they come from? How much salt and water for electrolytes?

Crushing the feed may help.. if the chick somehow isn't connecting with it.

Hope they thrive! :fl

Unfortunately the chick died shortly after posting :( We cleaned out everything and are keeping a close eye on the others and so far so good. I think they're about 4 days old now.

Chicken newbie here also...sorry to hear about the loss of your co chick. We had a very small, sickly buff brahma bantam who passed from internal complications. She had a very swollen chest which we thought may have been a crop issue. Later we found out from her poultry vet that she had not completely absorbed her yolk sac which prevented her from developing properly. However, before we knew this diagnosis we did give her water treated with Sav-A-Chick probiotics and electrolytes. It’s a small pack that can be found at feed stores, pet stores, and tractor supply...even though it didn’t save her, it did give her an extra boost on her less energetic days. She would perk up and eat and drink like crazy. Hope this helps, good luck with your other chicks. :fl

Sav a chick is OKAY and surely helps.. far superior choices IF they're an option are Poultry nutri drench OR Rooster Booster brand Poultry Cell product... In MY experience. :)
