Help! EE with bloody vent!

I will do my very best!!! She is my ONLY scardy chicken... And all my pullets were raised together and I spent time with them all the same
Sometimes, no matter what you do, one or two will be flighty. That's just the way it seems to go.
Do you have a walk in coop? Go in first thing and grab her, I would worry about her being loose all day with the others.

technically yes, but it is not finished... In construction... The one my hen are in currently is VERY POORLY DESIGNED! I didn't build it... It is practically impossible to catch a unfriendly hen.:( not even close to walk in... And the run is even worse.... So glad my new Coop is almost done!

Even with a walk-in things are not always perfect. It does makes things easier, but if you have one that really doesn't want to be caught, you can still have a time in there.

How is Nutmeg today?

I caught her and separated he this morning.... She is eating and drinking very well, and seems livley, but VERY anxious to be in with the others! Her bum is running, but is yellow and clear... Did she prolapse and break and egg from me handling her??? I can't really get pics... She gets really stressed out when I hold her...

Is there a way to cage her in the run or coop so she's near the others? That may help calm her a little.

You did not break an egg while handling her. The yellow that is coming from the vent, does it look like egg yolk?
When she is calmer, give her a wash up and get us some more photos.

Do you think your Mom can get you some antibiotics?

hopefully! She is in a tub right by the run... I'm trying to figure out what to do tonight, it's supposed to be cold and windy, but I can't figure out a way to separate her in the coop:barnie it looks to me almost like you'll and the egg white.

Can you repeat what you did yesterday and this morning? Let her sleep with the others, but get her very early and put her back into her separation cage?

Is her vent still swollen at all? Is she pooping normally?
If at all possible, try to get some antibiotics, I worry that the discharge is egg matter. You did nothing wrong to cause this! Let me repeat that - You Did Nothing Wrong To Cause This!

I figured out I could flatten a cardboard box, then put it back together once I slipped it in the nestbox hatch.... She is separated.. it doesn't seem swollen, and she poops normally, but then I can't tell if it's egg or poop running out her vent... My mom is going into town tomorrow... Should she get penicilin? Or something else? It's a real comfort to know it's not my fault.

There aren't many choices unless you can order some fish antibiotics online. Most feed stores like Tractor Supply carry Penicillin G, so that would be what I would get (unless Mom can order something for you).

When you can, get some photos of what is running out of her vent.

ok, I will... She is just very flighty right now, and I'm not sure I could catch her and not let her escape...
