Help----Eggbound hen.....think I have covered all the basis

I'm sorry also. 8 months ago I lost a Delaware from being egg bound. I also gave her a warm bath and was so surprised at how much she liked it. I tried to reach and pull out the eggs but when I was doing this I noticed that her whole underside was all black. I was fairly new to chickens and I culled her as I figured that she has suffered long enough. I did everything wrong. I separated her, gave her lots of foods, snacks and water, left her in a bright room. Sooo, it was a very hard lesson learned. Now I try to keep watch to be sure no one goes too long without giving me an egg. I will say that Delaware's produce very large brown eggs but now I've lost 2. I have started putting oyster shell in their feed along with in a container itself. Someone told me to use chick grit so I sprinkle that around. To top it all off, everyone is molting. What a crazy world. How do I keep track of this.

Thanks both of you....Sally8 sometimes I think we are not supposed to keep track!! I have enjoyed and love my girls. There are days where I wonder if I can do anything right and yet I figure they will do fine because they are there every morning and not complaining. Well only complaining if I forget the treat bucket!!

Thanks again soler and Sally8 for your words. Rest in Peace Little

I am so sorry about your loss. But i know that your chicken is in a good place now. I feel terrible. Sorry i did not see your thread earlier. If you have the same problem, then i suggest that you try to go the griff's feed and pet supply store in Davie to get Electrolyte and pro biotic. It says how to use it on the bag. Feel better soon!

I read your post over and over now Lindsay. It keeps me thinking. You are a really good person for looking out for her :) but now it's time for her to look out for you. I love it that you love chickens, and God bless you and your chickens.
