Today I was checking on my new snowflake bobwhite quail chicks and noticed that two of them had small red blobs sticking out of their vents. One is very lethargic and seems close to death, but the other one is healthy and active other than the blob. They are both trying to poop, but they seem to be seriously constipated. What do I do? I really don't want to cull them...

Unfortunately I don't, I have never dealt with it myself. The simplest thing is to wash with warm water and try to gently push the vent back in. If you can't get it back in then you have to try the other treatments, like hemmoroid cream and such.

It may take a while for their vents to go back in (if you do treatments). The important thing is to prevent infection.

I am wondering what you are feeding them. It seems odd for more than one bird to get it at once, I wonder if they ate something that made them constipated.

Here, this is an old thread to look through. They used a medicine called preparation h. It worked for a chicken and a cockatiel:

I don't know. Is show feed okay for chicks? I would try giving them chick starter instead, just in case that is it. And make sure they have lots of clean water.
