Help- enlarged crop?

Newbie here. Austalorp Rue is 6 month old hen. She is acting perfectly fine eating and drinking trying to determine if she is pooping. Her chest looks distended to us -it did go down overnight but wasn’t completely flat and think it looks puffy again. Wasn’t sure if we should intervene. Any suggestions? Just lost our 15 year old husky not ready for a sick chick esp my favorite

So sorry about your dog.
Crate this girl with just fresh clean water for the rest of the day and overnight. Check the crop again in the morning before you release her.
This will give you an opportunity to really examine her crop and all of her droppings to get a better idea on whether or not you have a problem.
She may just be a glutton.

She may have a pendulous crop. That can occur when a chicken overeats daily, and the crop becomes over stretched and cannot empty. Crop bras can be made or purchased and may help. Does it feel like her crop or air under the skin? Is it full and puffy, hard, doughy, or full of food? Here is some reading:

Crate this girl with just fresh clean water for the rest of the day and overnight. Check the crop again in the morning before you release her.

Do you provide granite poultry grit for your flock to take as they need it? Some may get enough tiny pebbles out in the soil. What do you feed them? I would hold off on any treats, and make sure that she has plenty of clean water to drink.

Just to clarify then it does look like she has a problem? Can she be acting normal and still have that problem?

They eat layena plus pellets. They have grits and oyster shell are allowed to free range occasionally did give them some bread the other day and rice. I thought I saw her eat a long piece of grass. Does it look like a problem?

Just check her crop early tomorrow before she has eaten or drunk anything. You can remove her food and keep her in a dog crate.
