Help... failure to thrive?

I blendered some more of the new feed, mixed in some corid and garlic and warm water. They've all gotten their large dose of corid for today.

Turkeys are busy flying about since all their wing feathers have come in. The guineas barely have any wing feathers... I assume from being stunted.

Why are you using the blender?
Are you buying pellets?

It's a crumble but has some larger pieces like split peas so blending it makes it easier for the keets to eat and should make it easier to get nutrients. It's not blended to dust, just some pulses to make the bites smaller. I've heard of guineas starving out because the food pieces are too large.

Thanks.

Yeah, they hate the mash... they looked at it, pooped on it, and then walked away, lol.

At this point I'm doing what I can but really just hoping at least the turkeys make it... would be nice if all the rest made it too.

When I leave the room I hear one of the turkeys calling to me. If I respond with a "peep peep peep" they settle back down. If I don't respond they keep peeping. When I whistle they scramble and run towards me and try to fly up on the edge closest to me. Silly birds.

So I googled one week old guinea keets and mine are super runty... like I don't think they're growing at all... ☹️ They look more like 1-2 day olds than the 8 that they are. But the turkey poults look about on par...

Should add I made a mash and two guineas got stuck in it so had to save them... they're devouring the crumbles though. Had another die overnight so down to 8 purples and 1 pearl.

Day 2 vs Day 8... @KikisGirls

I somehow lost track of this thread when I was away this week. So they are still dying and it sounds like it's still the pearls? By your previous pic it appears your keets look less robust than they once did. That's so disheartening.

Have you tried a different feed at all? Even if it is a little bit less protein...just to see if that "could" make a difference? I had bought a small bag of prestarter for the button quail I had hatch; it's maybe an ice cream pail amount of food.

I'll read back...I believe I probably missed some posts.

A lot of stuff has went on since I was last on here. Kiki was able to bring up some good information there on how long incubation periods of coccidiosis are.

When I had coccidiosis last year, it seemed one treatment wasn't effective enough. The chicks were showing signs of of deficiency, the vet confirmed and it was suggested that I put them through a second treatment. I still had lots of issues...I don't know if it was because the cocci did so much damage that the chicks and keets weren't getting nutrition or if it was the feed. There was no show in blood but the chicks went from healthy to being ill for 2 hours and then to death.

Your keets may had their intestines damaged to the point where they're not getting the proper nutrition...and that isn't helping. The chicks I had show up with coccidiosis this spring were in a dry kennel in the house. I have all my birds on a completely different starter and things have been much better this year. I followed the .24% directions for the amount of days suggested plus a day. I continued to give the Amprol for the additional percentages of .12 and .06.

If it were me, I'd continue the entire course of Corid down to and including the .06% If you've already been using the starter that you're familiar with (I think you mentioned that) then keep using it.
