HELP!! FAST I think my chicken prolapsed. Final Update

They have to get used to her again. Keep her out their where they can see her but can't get to her. I would keep her separated for about 2-3 days and then sneak her into the roost at night.

That's what I was wondering. I also wondered if all the medication makes her bum smell different so they are checking her out. I'm kinda wondering about spraying them all with shaving cream so they smell the same. I read that somewhere on this forum.

Take her out and put her with the flock, but stay close by to keep the others from attacking her

They are seeing her as a stranger, they only tend to remember up to around 3 days then forget who was part of the flock

If you have some wire mesh or something to allow her to be part of the flock and have a place to go for shelter... then she will be in close proximity to the flock but not with them, this way it allows them to get used to seeing her and in a week you should be able to remove the wire and allow her to roam amongst the flock and she should be ok

Its just a matter of getting them used to seeing her again and recognizing that she is part of the flock

I keep a wire dog crate in my henhouse just for this...incase of a broody hen or a hen that been sick and needs put back into the flock within a week or two...thye can see her but not touch her and make her worse...

Well, she's out there and wants to go play with the other chickens, but I know that they will peck at her. I'm thinking about making one of those chicken saddles with a special vent flap to keep the other birds from pecking her. But that she could still poop and lay. Maybe I'll soak the flap in something that tastes awful to keep them from wanting too. But chickens don't have tastebuds, so how do they taste?

Ok, thought I'd let you all know how this all turned out. Well, I put the chicken in the cage inside the coop for a few days. Today I let her out and there was a little pecking, not vent pecking though.

She rushed out and started to do dust bathe in the pine shavings. I guess she needed a bath.

Anyway, I stayed out there and watched for a long time and all is well. She's out on the roost tonight like usual and even laid an egg.

Thanks so much for everybody's help getting us through this. I'm very happy she's still alive and doing so well and I owe it all to your help.
