Help first time duck owner

Everybody's ducks are different. Some people say peas are a ducks favorite treat or mealworms. My ducks prefer tomatoes and redworms. You will just have to find out what they like best.

I started out tossing them the treats and slowly over time worked my way up to feeding them out of my hand. At first only my drake would eat out of my hand and my girl wanted nothing to do with me. Now its the opposite.

I’m not exactly sure what to feed as treats. I have giving them corn, soft of course. Even getting them to come for that was difficult. What is irresistible to ducks?

When ours were in the brooder, we fed them mealworms , green peas, shredded carrots, and shredded tomato hearts. The green peas were frozen but you put them in warm water for a half hour and let them eat with the water in. Now that they are older, thawed green peas is their favorite and they will not touch carrots or tomatoes anymore. That may change next week. They are ducks after all.They still like mealworms but those are pricey to feed very often.

Dried meal worms are a big hit here. Romaine lettuce I just toss the heads and they now shred them themselves. Mine are adults.

peas, meal worms, crickets, mine LOVE cheerios

Macaroni is my guys favorite. They will mug me for it.
