Well Dave, I went out yesterday after work and bought myself 2 more Polish. They will be 5 weeks younger then the first but I think that will be OK when they are all a bit older and now the first one won't be lonely. My husband and I have decided to keep the other girls seperated from the Polish and he is planning a new coop to build. thanks again, B

Barb,
I had a polish girl who was extremely skitterish and shy until I clipped the feathers that were blocking her eyes. What a difference that made! She moved up in the pecking order and gained a lot of confidence. I think keeping your polish chicks separate from the rest is great if you can do that. I couldn't. But, as I said, the secret seemed to be in her eyesight. She also was very friendly as I used to rescue her from persecution and she learned to jump in my lap when she felt threatened...or, just to say hello and get a head scritch.

She was still a lovey after she gained her eye sight and acceptance into the flock.

Hi Ellen: Yes, Myra is extremely friendly. My husband and I have been putting the chicks together for around 20 minutes the last few days and there have been a few pecks but she also has gotten in a few good ones herself. We are going to try this for awhile and see if they might still get along. I did go out and get 2 chicks just in case so she won't be lonely in a second coop. Thanks for your help. Barbara

Chickens are alot like my neighbours: they don't like anyone who's different.
So if you have all smooth girls, they might pick on a frizzle. Ones without feathered feet may pick on the ones who do.
glad that you got more Polish to keep her company.
