Today I found some bloody poop in my chicks brooder. I have 8 OEG bantams, one is six and a half weeks old and the others are four and a half weeks old. I dont know exactly which one it came from, and they all seem to be acting fine. They are eating and drinking normally. Is it coccidiosis, or is this normal. Should I put medication for coccidiosis in their water just to be safe or would that be bad for them if they don't have it?

You have coccida overload, need to treat with amperolium/corid ASAP!

Coccidia overload kills quickly. Just want to stress that you need to get Corid into them pronto. You will probably find it in the cattle section of the feed store. A direct dose into the mouth of a drop of concentrated solution twice a day may act quicker on any that are looking sick and perhaps won't drink enough of the medicated water.

Thank you everyone, all of the chicks still look healthy and are acting normal. I have not seen any more bloody poop, but I will definitely get some corrid at tractor supply as soon as I can.

Thank you very much, this is very helpful. I will probably give them the liquid Corid if I can find it at tractor supply. I am still not sure which one had the poop so I will have to put it in their water dish for all of them to drink.

I just got some corid at tractor supply. The dosage is per gallon and it says you should mix it fresh every day. But my chicks could never drink a gallon in a day. Could I do a half gallon instead, and how much corid would I mix in?

It never occurred to me to suggest this...I purchased a ring of measuring spoons and cups at the dollar store to be able to accurately measure to reduce the amount for a smaller volume. It is definitely ok to mix smaller amounts as long as you're accurate with the measurement.

Did you get powder or liquid?
