So happy to hear Beaker is starting to move around some. I am sure that was a biggie as far as being scared.

I just don't want to lose any more ducks. This has been a bad month, full of difficult learning experiences.. This one tops all.

Never had that happen and hopefully you'll never have it happen again. Do they have steps going into the pool? My scovies will launch themselves out with their wings when ready to get out. Maybe you should put something inside to help them be able to get out easier. When ours are small we have a little ramp that we use, but at 5 months they shouldn't have any problems getting out or getting water logged. Kinda strange isn't it.

Poor duckies! Do they still have an inside brooder they can stay in for a few days until you're sure they're back to normal? Thank god it hasn't been that cold here lately.

Yes, this month it seems, if it's going to happen... It's going to happen to my and MY ducks. They have never been in the pool, it's a little kiddie pool. It's fill to the top so all they had to do was fall out of it. Good grief. I've never seen a frozen duck and I couldn't believe it. I just happened to notice they were not really having "fun" in the pool. They were just sitting there. When I walked closer they were bobbing and shivering so I scooped one duck out and put her on the ground where she just fell onto her back. I was like, surely they aren't frozen. You have to be kidding me. But sure enough they were like little blocks of ducky ice.

Tmw, the pool will the drained and I will put a rock in there for them to step on.

Both ducks have now had some runny, white poopy. And Beaker has started coming too. I think Bunsen helped by trying to preen her. It stimulated her to move. He is such a good boyfriend.

Thanks for all the great advice. I think they will be fine.

Oh and I was gone for a couple hours at a baby shower, but my daughter was checking on them. I estimate they were in the pool for 1.5 to 2 hours. She said, "They were fine mommy, they were just swimming in the pool."

Who knew.

They won't just fall out if theyve never been in a pool. They will try and step up on the edge, and if they can not, they can't get out. Put a step stone in the kiddy pool, that way if puts them up higher, make it easier to get out. My girls, I was told, when they first started using the pool, they had problems getting out. Now they can get in and out no problem. Have to learn.

Hope they are warmed up good now. Good luck.

ETA< sorry, just saw that you planned on doing that.

I bet they'll be OK. I have gone out after a heavy downpour and found chicks just a couple of weeks old just sitting there in a cold puddle, soaked to the bone! (Long story how they got out of their safe, dry spot)

Absolutely cold to the touch! Brought them into the warm bathroom and they were up and at 'em in no time. I was amazed.
