Help! Friend for my house drake??

I have a 10 yr-old mallard rescue that I've had since he was a couple days old. He's a house duck and wears diapers. He was raised with cats, and he is very attached to one in particular - follows him everywhere. The cat sometimes loves Duka and sometimes runs from him (typical moody cat). I'm considering getting a duckling for Duka, but I'm concerned that he will reject the baby, as I'm pretty sure the duck fancies himself a feline. I'm also not sure about sex - Duka is a drake - would another drake or a duck be better?
Why now after 10 years? I've recently moved away from my family and can't drop Duka off at Grandma's house when I'm going to have a long day - I'm worried about my little guy getting lonely if the cats aren't always feeling the ducky love. Any advise will be most appreciated!

I would go with a female because a young amorous drake may not appreciate the fact that the old guy isn't interested in his attentions. A female would be much more laid back with your boy being older.

Be sure to introduce them slowly and only allow them alone once they are around the same size. From experience if he is imprinted he probably won't have much interest in another duck but give it a shot. You might be surprised.
