I had a staggered hatch. And i know your not suppose to open the bator after day 18, but I've done it lots of times before and I always had good hatches. This time my luck ran out. Out of 28 eggs, 3 hatched! And one pipped but died getting out.
I feel dreadful! I had them due Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. But every chick that did hatch, hatched two days before it was due. But yet the chick that pipped and died still had some yolk, so it seemed It was behind. I am confuzed. Never before has my hatch been so terrible. I will wait another day or two, then I will crack them all open and see what stage they died at. I candled them at day 7 and most all seemed to be growing. I have done the same thing for all my hatches, but for some reason this hatch just turned out terrible. Well I learned my lesson, no more staggering hatches for me. But I am still sad that I killed 25 growing chicks. I wish I knew exactly what I did to kill them. Cause the hatch seemed to be going really good, up until hatch day.
