Any tips or tricks to hatching shipped eggs. Had eggs shipped from WA to LA packaged great box arrived in 2 days in great shape. Arrived Friday AM put big side up in carton, waited till Sat afternoon to but in bator. Left turner off till Monday morning. Bator spiked to 102 first day but steady 100 after. Did have fluxuating humidity dropped from 55 to 47-49 almonst daily. No development in any of the 11 eggs. Help for next time.

You know, it's really a gamble buying shipped eggs. It sounds like you did everything right. I've bought shipped eggs from different places, and some were packaged so nicely, but didn't hatch. I had one shipment that was really a mess, a few broken, all the eggs were pretty dirty, and they smelled like cigarette smoke, but you know what, that was the best hatch rate I ever had! I was truly amazed. It's the luck of the draw, really.

It pretty much is a gamble. A few people on this site say that they have great hatch rates with shipped eggs, others say either none, or less than half of their eggs hatched. I personally have not tried hatching shipped eggs. I am going to soon though, I just bought 5 Buff Ameraucana Eggs. Wish me luck!

Isn't it exciting?! I have seven splash silkie eggs coming Wednesday. I'm going to stick a few under a broody hen I have, and put the rest in the incubator. I'm pretty excited! Let me know if you want a hatch buddy! We could share our experiences.

Sure! My eggs are estimated to arrive Saturday, so you'll have a head start on me!

WA to LA is a lonnng way. I'd say shipping was just too hard that far. Try local eggs or shorter shipping distance next time. And also, confirm that your thermometer and hygrometer are accurate. Google for the easiest ways to test yours, depending on the styles. Salt test for hygrometer.

I assume its fairly humid where you live? I'd start with much lower humidity. No water in the incubator at all, will likely still hold 30%, which is plenty in a humid area. Check the air cells around day 7. If they are too big, add a damp sponge or just a little water in a cup.

Good luck! And keep trying!

I wouldn't toss the eggs yet if they are only two days in. Two days of incubation seems early to be checking for fertility.
:goodpost:
Waiting until day 7 is standard for checking development. Day 4 it's POSSIBLE to sometimes see development, but if I went by that I would've tossed 3 eggs from my last hatch, and I just had a 6/7 hatch :). Leave them and forget them for a bit and then check again closer to days 7-10
