Help hatching shipped eggs.

Patience is a virtue when hatching, especially with shipped eggs..

Give them time, If you have the space in the incubator keep them in until day 14.

As others say, shipped eggs can be tricky and are a gamble. Good luck..

Any tips or tricks to hatching shipped eggs. Had eggs shipped from WA to LA packaged great box arrived in 2 days in great shape. Arrived Friday AM put big side up in carton, waited till Sat afternoon to but in bator. Left turner off till Monday morning. Bator spiked to 102 first day but steady 100 after. Did have fluxuating humidity dropped from 55 to 47-49 almonst daily. No development in any of the 11 eggs. Help for next time.
I ordered 12 eggs from a BYC member, his eggs are super clean. 8 had dev on day 14 and all 8 hatched about a week ago. I ordered 12 from eBay and received 14. 9 of the 14 had dev on day 14 and all 9 hatched. The whole exp was the second time I tried hatching. The first time was 2 months ago, I bought 24 eggs from local people who advertise on Craigslist and 2 hatched and only one survived. I did the research and found out that it is too difficult to manage the humidity level so I broke down and bought a humidity pump. I also bought 2 temperature gauges that shaped like an egg. The reason for two is I purchased several different types of temperature gauges, and they did not work. The two eggs together in the incubator helped me ensure the temperature is accurate. I bought a Brinsea second hand and the temperature eggs were letting me know the Brinsea was almost 2 degrees off, 2 degrees too low. So I set the temperature based on the temp egg measure not by the Brinsea reader. I also broke down and bought a 10 egg Rcom incubator from Amazon and I have to say other than the limited space for 10 eggs only, it was much easier to use and a better all around incubator than the Brinsea. Just the candling function was worth it. I found that if I want successful hatch I have to have equipment that works and consistency in caring for the eggs. Shipped eggs can hatch well if the all the other variables work well also.

Isn't it exciting?! I have seven splash silkie eggs coming Wednesday. I'm going to stick a few under a broody hen I have, and put the rest in the incubator. I'm pretty excited! Let me know if you want a hatch buddy! We could share our experiences.
The person sent an extra to make 6 eggs. I had 5 out of 6 go rotten on me, the last one is a maybe.

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that! My eggs are in lockdown. Day 21 is Tuesday. I put 5 in the incubator and all of them are developing. But, the air cells looked kind of wonky. Two eggs are under the broody. So I'm crossing my fingers and praying that some hatch! Oh, they're Paint Silkie eggs, and not splash as I said.

Well, all of my eggs quit on me? You? God Bless all of you!

Hi was just reading this thread as I also just had a batch of shipped eggs yield zero chicks. I bought from My Pet Chicken. Are there other places people have had better success with?
