HELP HELP HELP.........Bantam Rooster with possible broken leg

    My son made me aware of a bird with a leg problem.........how do i fix this or is it just a issuse to deal with.........i dont want to see this bird pass away.....best of show and grand champion bird we are talkning about

    First thing I would do is isolate him from the other chickens. If lower leg is broken, I would splint it. Upper leg into hip- either a trip to the vet (depending upon value or degree of attachment to the bird) or simply allow the leg to heal by itself. If the skin is pierced and bone is protruding, the leg will not heal on it's own.

    He also needs to rest it, maybe keep him in a dog kennel for a week or two.

    Even if he survives this and you can set the fracture well, there's a definite possibility that he will be somewhat crippled. Of course a vet may be able to prevent this.
